Scarecrow Golem — My First Minecraft Mod is Live on CurseForge

I’m excited to announce that Scarecrow Golem, a Fabric mod for Minecraft 26.2, is now available on CurseForge.

What is it?

Scarecrow Golem adds a straw-stuffed farming companion to Minecraft. Build one the same way you’d build an Iron Golem, a T-shape of Hay Blocks topped with a Carved Pumpkin, and it gets to work. It searches for mature crops, harvests them, replants using a seed from the drop, and delivers everything to a nearby Straw Chest.

Why I built it

My wife loved an older mod named Straw Golem. It went unsupported, and forked versions suffered the same fate. I built this for her to enjoy <3

Features

The golem harvests wheat, carrots, potatoes, and beetroot, replanting as it goes. Once it’s gathered what it can, it walks over to a Straw Chest (a new block crafted from Hay Blocks) and deposits everything. It handles double chests, remembers full ones, and moves on to the next available chest.

Straw Chests

There’s also a decay system inspired by the Copper Golem’s oxidation. Over several in-game days your Scarecrow Golem slowly deteriorates through four stages, getting slower until it eventually freezes in place, covered in dirt, rot, and swarming with flies. Rain speeds up the decay, and a roof protects against it. Feed it a Hay Block at any stage to fully restore it.
